Our Eyes Don't Tell Lies

Image
There is an old saying that says that the eyes are a window to the soul, or something like that. There really is a lot of truth to that and more and more studies are showing just how much you can tell if someone is being dishonest with you or not, by their eyes. This isn't exactly a new concept, for people have believed that they can tell if they are being lied to just by looking into their eyes. Until recently, I always believed that it was as simple as checking to see if somebody is having a hard time looking you in the eye while talking to you. However, as studies are showing more and more it's actually much more complex than that. Not to say that by the end of this article, you will be something of a human lie detector test yourself. With that, I'll get started. If you suspect that someone may be being dishonest with you, keep a good watch on not just their eyes, but specifically the direction in which the person is looking. Now, we all know that when aske

What Makes Success? Education or Talent?

Image
So, what makes a person successful? Well, we know that there isn't just one thing rather a variety of things, education and talent, being two very important components.  However, is one more important than the other? I would imagine that different people would say different things based on their own personal experiences,  however, let's take a look at this from an objective standpoint.       I'm going to start with education. Wikipedia defines education as “Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits. Educational methods include teaching, training, storytelling, discussion and directed research.” We live in a world today that education is extremely important if you want the best chance at success. I don't believe too many people would disagree with that statement.  That said,  let's not forget that the most suitable people in the world today don't have degrees from fancy schools or

A Modern Shakespearean Tragedy

(The following article, although based on a true story, may include exact facts and dates that are not one hundred percent accurate. Although nothing in the article is fiction, it has been written from my memory of the case from articles I have read, television programs, etc. I didn’t want this article to sound like every other article written about this particular case so I thought writing it by memory may give it a level of humanity that it may not have otherwise.) From the moment I saw their smiling faces on the television I knew I had seen them before and I was taken back to see this same so called happy couple on the morning news. About a year prior I had seen the same picture on the same morning news show for a completely different reason. They had been part of the very small community of people who refused to leave the French Quarter which is an area of New Orleans when the entire city was being evacuated because Hurricane Katrina and all of her devastation were headed their

Why Do Serial Killers Wet The Beb As Children ?

Image
Like a large portion of today's society, I find serial killers and their crimes morbidly fascinating. I think most of us are drawn particularly the things iur world that we don't understand, and fortunately, most of us do not understand what could possibly be going through the minds of a serial killer while they are committing such heinous crimes. However, countless studies are conducted trying to understand all the different aspects of serial killers and their crimes, from what goes through their minds while committing their crimes, how they live their lives, what kind of life hey have led, and on and on. Among these studies are numerous investigations into the childhoods of some of the most viscous and notorious serial killers. Although every killer is different having lived through different childhood experiences and such there are certain experiences that are more common than others shared by the majority of the killers studied. Particularly three experiences. Tw

Autism Angel

There are many theories as to why Autism Spectrum Disorder is so prevalent today. Statistics show that 1 in 88 Canadian boys will be diagnosed with autism before they hit ten years old. Personally, I believe ot is much more common than that even … and 1 in 88 boys is a pretty scary statistic. I am the mother of a wonderful 13 year old son Kyler who was diagnosed with autism at two and a half years old. I am not kidding you when I say that just about every single time I am talking to another mother and I happen to mention my son being autistic I get a reply along the lines of, “I have an autistic son as well.’’ Or “My nephew has autism.” Or maybe it is their best friend’s child. My point being is it is always a little guy who is close to them somehow. Even when I think back to my school days. I honestly do not remember one kid in my class or the classes close to my grade, and being a country school I went with the same 400 kids for 10 years & therefore knew everyone well enough, t

Bartender 's Secret To Relating to People

Image
I was about twenty one or so when an employer I was working for at that time, knowing that I loved to read, gave me a book called "Positive Personality Profiles", by a very intelligent (and humorous) man by the name of Dr. Robert Rohm. Halfway through the first chapter, I was engulfed and almost the entire book in one evening. When I finished, I flipped back to the first page and read it all over again. By reading that book, I was given an amazing gift; a gift that has proven, and I am confident will continue to prove, to be an amazing asset in my life, in all areas of my life both professionally and personally. Knowledge really is power and the knowledge I obtained from reading this particular book has given me the power to relate to people according to who they are, based on their personality type. People are like snowflakes as in there are no two people that are exactly alike and we all have our own different personality. Before I begin, I just want to make it

Britney Spears: Breakdown or Baby Blues?

Image
Britney Spears: "I wasn't crazy. I was suffering from Post Partum Depression" It was more than a decade now since Britney Spears' breakdown ... in front of the entire world. It seemed as though you couldn't go through a check out line or turn on the television back than without hearing all about Britney Spears and her latest "Crazy Stunt". From shaving her hair off to talking in that creepy British accent, there was no question, Spears was not in her right mind. It seemed that everyone had an opinion about what was going on. Some blamed he pop stars antics on becoming too famous, too rich, too young & too quickly. Others blamed drug and alcohol abuse. Others claimed that she had simply lost her mind. But in all the tabloid stories, entertainment shows and paparazzi videos surfacing on YouTube at this time, it seemed that there was a very obvious reason. One that, until recently, no one ever seemed to mention. When you look at the decline

Keep Your Sex Life Sizzling Through Marriage.... & Kids

Image
am happily married after 13 years and two children. Some people say it's a miracle. I tell them that it is much simpler than that. My husband and I still have sex regularly and as the years go on and andll around us we see our married friends constantly complaining that their sex life has fizzled out, the ones that are still married anyhow. And most have been married for years less that we have. They ask me all the time, “What is your secret?” and I never know how to answer that question. So, I started thinking about it myself. Yes, I admit luck does play a role but there is so much more that that. As I continued to think, I started realizing that there were certain “rules” my husband and I follow and the first, and most important, is that we have always made a point to keep our sex life sizzling, and it's nothing hard. It's nothing that every couple can't at least give an honest to goodness try. I'm telling you… the little extra effort can make a huge difference.

Seven Mistakes Even The Best Parents Make

Image
We all want what is best for our kids. That said, we can only do the best for what we know at that time and it is a learning process every, single day.       So, what about all those other times during an average day when you aren't feeling like you need a time out. It has just been a long day or the morning after a long night, you have just started your period or are just plain irritable. That said, it is nothing your kids or anyone else did it's just one of those days where you have to pin on a smile and "fake it until you make it"... through the day that is. We all have those days and those are the days in which we have to be very careful of what comes out of our mouths because without meaning to or even realizing it, we could be saying some really damaging things to our children and we need to be aware of those things because they are the things that even the best of parents say. These can be especially detrimental for our kids because they are things that a
